It's your last chance to catch Lucy McLauchlan and fellow artist Rich Jacobs in Buddy System Invitational at Portland's Breeze Block Gallery this month, running until the 28th September. Curator Sven Davis invited 22 international artists to participate in the exhibition, producing two original works each. In turn, each of the participants invited a fellow artist to bring along for the ride, underpinning the spirit of cooperation and generating a wonderful mixture of both planned and serendipitous outcomes.
While the exhibition has been running across the pond Lucy has also managed to travel to East France and participate in the third edition of Bien Urbain. She has been following the flow and movement of the people around the river and city to create more of her statement monochrome street pieces alongside 20 other mural, installation and sound artists invited to participate between the 5th September and the 5th October.
In addition to ever-growing international projects Lucy also managed to find time to complete her hometown commission for the Library of Birmingham, we mentioned earlier in the summer. Transforming the largest library in Europe with her own distinct organic style whilst absorbing elements of the existing architectural features by the brutalist architect John Madin. Thanks to Katja Ogrin for the awesome interior photographs, Lucy's work will be on display until December on Centenary Square if you have space in the diary to check it out in person.
