The Minotaur

11th October 2011 - 25th October 2011

We are delighted to announce our return to The Old Vic Tunnels this year from 10th until 25th October. Countering the staid events of Frieze, this venue situated in the deepest, darkest depths below Waterloo Station will transform into an extension of Lazarides gallery with the addition of an underground restaurant staged by German culinary experts Pret A Diner.

Drawing inspiration from the ancient Greek legend of The Minotaur, visitors will experience original installations by Stanley Donwood, Jonathan Yeo, Antony Micallef, Conor Harrington, Doug Foster, 3D, Ian Francis, ATMA, Zevs, Michael Najjar and Lucy McLauchlan.

And alongside the exhibition, we will be turning it up a notch through our collaboration with Pret A Diner. Bringing together some of the best chefs in the world, the underground dining experience will feature creative cuisine from Michelin-starred chefs Nuno Mendes (Viajante, London), Matthias Schmidt (Villa Merton, Frankfurt) and Juan Amador, (Amador, Mannheim).

Tickets to The Minotaur exhibition: £5. A £1 restoration levy is included in the ticket. Free entry to under 16s. A three course meal at PRET A DINER including entrance to the exhibition will be priced at £75. Bookings will be available at 7pm and 9pm.

Venue information: The Old Vic Tunnels, Station Approach Road, London SE1 8SW
Please visit The Old Vic Tunnels' site for directions from Waterloo Station.

Featuring
Jay Jay Burridge
13th August 2010 - 26th August 2010
Lazarides Gallery is pleased to announce the final exhibition in our temporary Beverly Hills space. 'When Superstars Ruled The World' will be the first US exhibition for British artist Jay Jay Burridge and promises to be one of the most talked about shows of the summer.

Presenting with the Lazarides Gallery for the first time, Jay Jay Burridge has brought dinosaurs of enormous proportion back to life morphing them to fit our fashionable modern lives. The breathtaking scale of Jay Jay’s sculptures in contrast with the simplicity of the construction makes the re-invention of these classic beasts truly extraordinary and appeals to everyone who was once a child…

When Superstars Ruled the World will feature six huge hand-built dinosaurs made of industrial packing materials, manipulated into occasional activities such as sipping tea, playing instruments, surfing and break-dancing. Jay Jay’s commercial approach to creating art will make fashion inspired multiples available to collectors of all stripes…especially those who get a kick out of standing in line to collect the latest sneaker release.

EuroTrash - Lazarides group exhibition in LA

9th June 2010 - 3rd July 2010
Lazarides LA is proud to introduce, EuroTrash: a stellar line up of some of the hottest European artists around.

Hailing from France, JR will bring his unique vision to Beverly Hills. Immersing himself within cultures where struggle and conflict are rife, he presents his monochromatic photographs and installations.

Renovating the urban environment much like JR, is the innovative Portugese artist Alexandre Farto aka Vhils. He manipulates a variety of surfaces to create his extraordinary vision. From the brick facade of buildings to peeling off layered flyposters, he reveals images that explore the sub-cultures and dynamism of a city.

Cork born painter Conor Harrington explores the illusion of power and the emotional side of masculinity in his large-scale paintings. Combing the fast pace of grafitti art with traditional oil painting, resulting in energetic murals of soldiers and conquerors existing within a chaotic abstracted landscape.

Antony Micallef
returns to LA with his distinctive style of painting. Drawing on icons of contemporary society which both celebrate and condemn modern day living. His most recent works are built upon a profound belief in the act of brushstrokes and animals and humans merge in the happy accident of the artist's extreme stream of consciousness.

Immortalising the individual in monumental proportions is what these exciting artist do best. Using the overlooked, misunderstood and mundane elements of our everyday, each artist captures our attention with their distinctive style and alternative approach.

Lazarides is delighted to announce its exhibition programme for an exclusive 4-month period in Los Angeles. Launching in April, Lazarides will host 4 unique exhibitions in a secret 8,000 square foot venue in Beverly Hills.
