Mode 2

Biography

The thinking man of the British graffiti movement has recently returned from self-exile in Paris. Like seminal comic 2000AD if it had ever managed to get laid, Mode's work is immediately refreshing due to its lack of posturing and antagonism, concentrating instead on very different themes (friendship! Love! Dancing! The latter stages of pregnancy!) Mode was recently made artist-in-residence at Coco de Mer, the peerless erotic emporium masterminded by Sam Roddick, daughter of Body Shop founder Anita, where he has developed an offshoot style mixing his graffiti-based art with more traditional portraiture. He paints customers from his vantage point of a cubby-hole in the changing rooms (with their prior request, of course). He is available for private commission.

European Bailout Show Opens At Post No Bills

2nd August 2011

A selection of originals and prints by Antony Micallef, Conor Harrington, Ian Francis, Jonathan Yeo, JR, Mode 2, Paul Insect, Stanley Donwood, Vhils and Zevs donned the walls of Lazarides' sister venture Post No Bills in Venice Beach, California. Those of us back in London at the launch of Boxi's new exhibition were certainly jealous of this candid affair. Luckily, there is never any shortage on the art/ fun metre at any event stamped with Laz approval.

Mode 2 at Galerie Issue

1st April 2010
A Superlative Conspiracy by Mode 2 opens tonight, the 1st of April at Galerie Issue in Paris.

Besides the different items of clothing and accessories on view, Mode will have drawings for sale as well as some new original paintings done, as usual, just before the opening.

To round things off he has selected a few shots from his photo archive of Paris social life from '87 to '91...

Alongside these, Mode will be exhibiting L'Offrandre (The Offering) which is more of an original work than it is a print. The image originates from a series of drawings taken from Modes most prized possession, his sketch book. Each and every copy in the edition has been meticulously hand painted by Mode.

L'Offrandre is available to buy exclusively from Lazarides on shopatlazarides.com
